Washable Nursing Pads or Disposable Nursing Pads?

We’d be lying if we said we weren’t huge advocates for all things reusable here at Bamboobies. Washable Nursing Pads were our very first product and what we are most known for as a brand! Sustainability is important to us, but we’re also a group of realistic mamas who know that sometimes, reusable just isn’t an option. We know that there are times where disposable is the right choice, and for that, we say “we’ve got your front!” We’re here to help you decide what works best for you, your baby, and your lifestyle. The biggest plus? Both use renewable resources!

Our line of washable nursing pads is our tried and true staple product. Bamboobies was found by a mom who made these after having a difficult time finding comfortable, absorbent nursing pads that didn’t show through her shirts. Her sore new mom nipples needed a break. She cut up a piece of bamboo fabric, stuck it in her shirt, and the rest is history. After successfully creating the ultra-thin, heart-shaped pads that dart around the breast and hold light to medium leaks, she had a friend tell her that they just weren’t cutting it for her heavy letdown. That’s where our overnight nursing pads come in - round, thick, absorbent, and soft as ever, these pads are perfect for newborn nursing, overnight leaks, and heavy letdown. Both pads boast a soft rayon velour made from bamboo to touch the breast and keep you comfy, an absorbent inner layer of cotton, and a leak-proof outer layer that works to prevent those pesky leaks.

These two staples of the Bamboobies washable nursing pads line come in a variety of sets for what you need: just ultra-thin hearts or overnights, combination packs, and different patterns for when you want fashion-forward leak protection.  Picking what works best for you and your letdown may be easier upon arrival of your little one, but it doesn’t hurt to start with a smaller combination pack to see what you need before you stock up on all of one kind!

Now...we know that disposable nursing pads are a reality of our busy times and lives. There are mamas on the go or for whom washing pads often may not be a feasible option. The reason we made our disposable nursing pads was simple: we couldn’t find a single disposable pad that didn’t have painful plastic touching our new mom nipples. While in the creation stage, we asked: “why can’t these pads be comfortable and sustainability-focused?” That’s where our disposable pads come in. These pads use wood pulp that is certified sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council. Beyond that, they have their own version of a leak-proof liner. These are perfect to have a spare pair or two in your diaper or pumping bag, or even in your glove box of your car for when leaks happen unexpectedly, and you aren’t able to launder your Washable Nursing Pads in the near future.
