So you’re prepping your baby registry and that obviously brought you to this blog - you’ve typed “how many nursing b” into your search bar and you were auto-filled with “...bras should I buy?” “...bras do I need?” Guess what, soon-to-be mama? We’re here to help!
You may be planning to breastfeed your baby, exclusively pump, or possibly a mix of the two, and you’re wondering how many nursing bras you’re gonna need. That’s smart to plan ahead! We’ve got a few questions for you before all of that, though:
1 - Do you know how much laundry you’re really gonna be doing?
Okay. We’re just gonna rip the band-aid off for you, mama. Poop-covered clothing is in your future. So are breast milk-soaked bras, tanks, nursing pads, and bedding. Oh, and your regular clothes that you wear. And your partner’s clothes. While we’re hoping you have some assistance to get your laundry mountain under control, we understand if it falls by the wayside because here at bamboobies, we’re team #lyinginwithbaby! That being said, consider how many times you’re realistically going to get to the laundry. If you have a hefty stock of nursing pads, bras, washable diaper inserts, and bedding, that’s worth taking note of. If you are keeping it slim, that’s fine, too! But know that you’ll want at least two bras - one for when it’s in the wash, one for when you gotta wear it.
2 - What season is baby arriving?
Let’s be real, mama. You’re going to be at your sweatiest post-baby in a way you didn’t think possible from pregnancy. With lying-in comes the fun “baby-finally-fell-asleep-I’m-never-gonna-move-again-am-I?-oh-well-I’ll-catch-up-on-Netflix” time, and you will get hot. Add that to anything outside of winter and you’re setting up for wanting some dry, comfy clothes to pop into. This is where two or three nursing bras will be perfect for you - free from sweat and breast milk and anything else baby wants to share with you? Yes, please.
3 - Have you remembered that variety is the spice of life, even when you’re breastfeeding?
We’re just gonna say that we think our Yoga Nursing Brahhh is the most fun of all the nursing bras out there. Why? We have three colors that fit any mood, and yes - it’s okay for you to have a mood, even if you haven’t left the house in three weeks. We’ve got a bold, bright Hibiscus Pink that brightens up any day; a Lunar Grey that works to stay hidden underneath light tops; and our tried-and-true Jet Black to blend into any look (and cover so. many. stains.) Plus, three is a perfect number of bras to start off with - you’ll learn your patterns and schedule as you get into more activity post-baby, like walks around the park or yoga or a quick dinner out (with little one snuggled up all cute in their infant car seat!)
Okay. Now that you’ve gone through the three questions, we hope you’re able to decipher that at least two nursing bras will get you the best bang for your buck (and your boobs!) Good luck, mama!
